SELF - CARE Is it SELF-ISH?
Today I had to take a break - I am exhausted! The Healing Journey I have been on for the last 7 months has certainly taken its toll on me and is more than I expected, especially at this time of my life. Processing, then accepting the painful experiences and emotions I have gone through eventually led me back to past traumas, hurts, mistakes made where the experience now feels somewhat familiar! Never in a million years did I expect to go through and be in the place I have found myself today! However, things happen for a reason I believe and 'this season' of my life as I am going to call it, has been an eye opener for me. The different journeys I have had to 'heal' from since childhood usually will all begin to come together once you THINK you have 'somewhat' mastered who you really are and what you really want! What I mean by that is, as we age, and live through life's ups, downs and in-betweens, we grow into ourselves! The values, the likes and dislikes, our tolerance for people, friends, work, society and life itself change! What we once tolerated, now has us rethinking careers we chose, core values, friendships, family, and the life we have created! Most bury these feelings, I know I have, until something happens, or someone triggers you to realize 'you are no longer in the same space, energy, or place!' We outgrow what we used to settle for, stay quiet, say 'it's ok', hold it in, or say nothing at all until we explode! Once the explosion has taken place there is no turning back - we are forced to look in the mirror, realize that if it's not today that you speak out - will you ever? SELF Care for me is about going within, turning off my phone, computer, people, indulging in a book, walk, nature, gardening, whatever makes me smile, inside and out!! Sometimes it's going to involve setting boundaries, staying home, saying NO, asking for help, and the hardest one - FORGIVING MYSELF! and Remembering that I AM ENOUGH!!

Very well said and I think this can apply to anyone as we age and start to view life and needs from a different perspective....Sharon
